An academic, former Presidential Adviser, and seasoned  politician, Professor Pat Utomi has sensationally and pointedly alerted the nation to brace up for the unforeseen and unimaginable as the country prepares for the 2019 general election.

The renowned intellectual was speaking, Tuesday, in Ibadan, Oyo Ste stated, in a worrisome manner that there is a strong indication that Nigeria may not be able to hold the planned general elections expected to take place next year.

As the guest speaker during the 70th Anniversary of the Students Christian Movement, SCM, University of Ibadan Chapter, Professor Utomi told Nigerians that the manner in which the parties conducted their primaries, including the APC, with attendant in-fighting and claims and counter claims is enough indication that the general elections might not hold.

According to him: ‘’ We are going to have all kinds of troubles. People within parties will try to sabotage one another. This will spill over. The development might lead to the postponement of the elections. The signs are not the best for our democracy’’, he warned.

Professor Utomi, who spoke on the theme: ‘’Treating thee Ailing Nation’,  regretted that criminals, real armed robbers, and ‘entrepreneurs’ of power rule and control the public spheres of life, while those who are in leadership do not have the capacity to lead. In his opinion, Nigeria is sick because there is no love, and people cannot find their voices.

He expressed deep fear that Nigeria, in no distant time, might be considered a dangerous state by the international community.

END.
