Curfew in Kaduna Enters its 2nd Full Day As El-Rufai Addresses Downcast Indigenes, Promises Review on Tuesday..
The 24 hour curfew imposed on Kaduna metropolis and its environs has entered its second day without any relaxing, says Kaduna State government.
According to information released by Maryam Abubakar, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor El-Rufai on new media, any information regarding the relaxing of the curfew should be disregarded. Residents are urged to get information concerning the situation in the state from the appropriate authorities.
The Kaduna state Governor visited some places within the city on Monday and also presided over a security council meeting on the present state of affairs in Kaduna.
There is tension and uneasy calm all over the city even as some men in military uniform were reported to have shot and killed a number of unarmed young men at Narayi area of the metropolis in the early hours of Monday, even with the curfew in place.
The killed young men were said to be keeping vigilante to guard the area from attacks by unknown individuals.
However, in his statewide broadcast on Monday at 8 pm, El-Rufai promised that another round of state security council meeting would hold to review, and possibly relax the curfew in view of the gradual return of normalcy.
He gave the assurance that all those behind the perpetration of the violence would be vigorously prosecuted including other 65 individuals behind the violence that took place in Kasuwan Magani in February this year..
He acknowledged the support of communities. In his words: “The support of communities has be reassuring, and, all must reject those who incite violence to divide us.”
It is unfortunate that this situation of inter-ethnic acrimony appears unrelenting among communities in Kaduna State with disheartening reports of security operatives alleged to be taking sides whenever violence erupts.
